I am starting to personally hate all NON-bronies.
If there is one thing about MLP:FiM that has become clear to me over time in the fandom, it is just how eerily accurate of an indicator that the mere reaction to the show, points to about people on a general, yet personal level. And how much that their level of acceptance of the show is a definitive clear-cut method of judging them as humans.
Simply put, it has been my experence on the vastness of the internet, everywhere on every forum, in every community, youtube comment, and even outside of the internet, when it comes to news stories and even personal-first hand experences and the reaction of this brony “phenonomon”, that it seems incable for anyone to NOT like this show, and NOT be an asshole about it, to boot.
I have never, in any capacity seen anyone merely say “I don’t care for it, personally, but it’s ok if you do.” I have only seen the vilest, most immature, hateful, ignorant, idiotic pigheaded reactions outside of the fanbase from all corners.
And I have also seen a LOT of it. Everywhere. And I find this all the more upetting, because it makes me feel things that work against the very concept of FiM’s positive and well-intentioned message.
I found that it is impossible to “Love and Tolerate”. I hear the fanbase throw that around, and all I feel is a certain, complicated brand of sadness. I’m sure Bronies like myself, want to take the high road from trolls. But it has always been my experience that ignoring a problem never makes it go away and never allows me to feel better about it.
Thus, I have come to feel that the “love and tolerate” addage is nothing but a sad joke. No one outside of our fandom “loves” or “tolerates” us. They hate us. They have their minds made up about us. They create insanely hateful, and fabricated loads of shit about us in their minds. And they will openly and hostially spew that in any way they can to put us down. And for what? having an interest that they can’t understand.
I have begun to feel that everyone who doesn’t like this show, or even everyone who doesn’t “get” it or it’s appeal, is both an idiot and a rotten human being in addition to being the majority. I cannot love and tolerate. And it makes me feel downright horrible. It makes me feel as if I am sinking down to their level, except on the diametric opposite end. Like all of the senseless wars of religion, ideals, and even territory that have ever been fought across the world. I feel slowly drafted into being an instrument of hatred, myself.
I can’t allow their “right to an opinion” because I feel that Pony-haters have abused their opinions, which I have always seen as a “privilege” to have opinions, not god-given rights. Opinions are tempered with reason, with understanding, and intelligence. Something I feel all Brony-haters lack and I am worried that I am legitimately finding them to be sub-human, or at least all together, bad people.
They don’t “get” why guys like MLP? They don’t understand why anyone would have an interest in a pop-culture thing, whether it be a show, a band, a cartoon, a film, a comic book, ect, just becuase it’s not something they do like? I don’t like anime like Naruto. Have I ever been hostile towards Naruto fans? No. Certainly not enough to call them “faggots”. A word I see being thrown towards all bronies by all non-bronies. Does anyone get this volume of disdain for admitting they like Adventure Time or Spongebob Squarepants, these days? Not that i’ve seen. I guess it’s cool to hate bronies becuase bronies don’t fit into that “mold of society” book that the idiots out there have written, and think is some kind of real standard?
Question I ask. Why does anyone like anything? What about cartoon series like The Powerpuff Girls? Do the same peope who might have grown up with this work from Lauren and her husband and loved it, now hate Ponies? You’d be surprised by how much. And yet, it’s no secret why people like a cartoon show, even if they’re “too old for it” or “not the right gender.”. There is more hatred towards Bronies than anything else i’ve seen, and it’s not right.
I hate people who impose this kind of role, and who even think they can. I hate people that classify other people this way. It’s become an accepted assumption to think that those merely liking a cartoon show like MLP are pedophiles, or “stupid autistic kids” (I find that very offensive), or “faggots” or the like.
These are the kind of people who honestly canot see their douchiness, hatefulness, and flat-out meritless, despibable bullying for what it is. And they believe they are right. I find myself enraged at the thought. I scare myself with the shocking belief that I sometimes wish these people who say these things were dead.
MLP:FiM now brings out these feelings in me. It is an innocent show. It preaches understanding. It is a quality work. It’s only agenda is that of tolerance and good lessons. So, why then, does it make me feel so much hatred towards everyone else, who is just waiting to kick us and spit on us? I do not blame the show of course. Nor the community. But I cannot help but feel that the reaction of someone to FiM, is a personal beromitor of whether or not this is a person that show live to see their next birthday?
It frightens and embarasses me greatly that I feel this way. Have I become a terrible person, gnashing my teeth at every anti-brony comment online or everyone who gives dirty looks at someone in public with a Rainbow Dash shirt, and wanting to give anyone that hates the fanbase a curb stomping?
And I don’t think it is just me as an “MLP fanboy”. I feel it’s more than just being butt-hurt about “y u no liek ponies”. I feel it is a far reaching ethics and morality question about bullying, in every possible area, and about stupid, uninformed, hateful, pathetic trolling people being everywhere and how they need a curb-stomping more than any “love and tolerating” does.
This probably makes me the worst MLP fan ever. I am probably someone who has no right to like Ponies anymore. Becuase I keep thinking of violence more than turning the other cheek. I am a bad person. And this scares me. However, I can’t help but thing that this community and it’s reaction from others, have made me question this and think about it far more than I’ve ever thought about anything in my life. I just can’t stand it.
There doesn’t seem to be ANYONE who doesn’t like this show that can explain why they don’t like it, and isn’t an asshole about it. Step up to the conflict or run away like a coward without standing up to the Brony hate? I don’t know anymore. I’m probably not even a good fan anymore. Maybe the bronies will turn on me. I wouldn’t blame them. My attitude can only do more harm than good. But I can’t help it. It’s how I feel, now.

I have ONE FRIEND who is indifferent to the show. Doesn’t like it, but doesn’t bash it either. He actually likes the animation. I’m actually going to send him this and Ask him what he thinks.

This is because it is saying that a female is not allowed a choice as to which species/subspecies (pegasi, earth pony, unicorn) they have, because they are female. I never refer to my friends as ‘sisters’, even if they are female. I call them ‘bro’. Brony is gender-neutral.

Bro: short for brother. Please go around calling every girl “Brother”And I’ll go around calling every guy “Sister” or “sis”Lets see how well it works.
